Gravel Update – ARP Public Hearing Wednesday June 18, 2025

Residents Gravel Update – Aggregate Resource Plan (ARP) (# 20) Please attend the ARP Public Hearing on Wednesday June 18th, 2025!

This is a request, for residents to show their support  for the implementation of the ARP. The proposed Aggregate Resource Plan (ARP), though not as comprehensive as many would like, is a significant step toward better management of the industry. Many residents in the western portion of Rocky View County (RVC), while recognizing the need for gravel, also see a requirement for better long range resource development planning, regulation and oversight to avoid degradation of their health and that of our surrounding environment.

If the ARP is not approved by RVC Council on June 18th, we will continue to see the “Wild West” expansion of gravel development in our backyard. The map below shows some of the lands in our area currently controlled for gravel mining. Use this link to view the map below.  Look for Big Hill Springs Provincial Park.  bighillcreek.ca/…/ARP-Map-Lands-Held-by-Gravel-Interests-Big-Hill-Springs-Cochrane-West-01-24.pdfce.
