State of the Watershed (SOW) Report for Bighill Creek Completed

After 10 years of researching, analyzing and writing, Bighill Creek Preservation Society has released its completed State of the Watershed (SOW) Report for Bighill Creek.
The Bighill Creek is one of three tributaries entering the Bow River at the town of Cochrane. The area’s unusual geology, rich wildlife habitat, compelling archaeology and western history are documented. The report joins other watershed studies as part of Alberta’s broader Water for Life Strategy for Sustainability. We believe readers will find the BCPS SOW Report useful, easily comprehensible and enlightening.

Wendell Koning, our dedicated report coordinator has done a masterful job compiling, documenting, researching and working with a brilliant team of volunteers. This comprehensive and valuable report will serve those making decisions about greater protection of this vital creek and its main spring as well as introduce the  reader to this significant watershed.

As we release this SOW Report, BPCS offers sincere thanks to the many institutions, funders and numerous volunteers who contributed time and energy in gathering data, and generally helping BCPS meet its goal. We hope you will take a moment and review the Acknowledgments section (p iii) of the report.
